Who is Atom Design?
Whether you’ve stumbled across this post accidentally or sought it out from sheer curiosity, chances are that you simply can’t answer the question above. That’s fine, seriously. No hard feelings. What we’re aiming to do by the end of this piece is give you a satisfactory answer to “Who is Atom Design?” and hopefully leave you feeling a little more in the know about no-code and the exciting things happening in the web development space. The short answer is that Atom Design is a small, ethically driven web design agency specialising in the use of no code workflows to deliver stunning digital experiences for a fraction of the cost of a bigger and more traditional development team. Truthfully though, we’re so much more than that…
Firstly, Atom Design is two humans, Kelsie and Ross. I'm Ross and I just so happen to be writing this very article, but you'll be reading a lot from Kelsie too in the not too distant future, so don't worry. Kelsie comes from a music teaching background and studied at the University of Aberdeen before discovering and working in no-code development. I come from a more traditional software development background and studied at both the University of Glasgow and City of Glasgow College before Kelsie introduced me to no-code.
Atom Design is the result of a shared passion for technology and design by two mates from Glasgow. Kelsie and I met whilst working for Apple back in 2019 and became fast friends, bonding over our shared love of making things and trying out new experiences. One perspective-altering pandemic later and a lot of time spent locked in-doors lead to us discovering and falling head over heels for no-code and the multitude of incredible tools in the space. What started out purely as a hobby and a passion for us quickly became something that we’d talk about non-stop, with tips and tricks and cool new prototypes being texted back and forth before finally, it became obvious what we wanted to do. Web design is a well-established profession and there are countless talented agencies out there who’ve grown from teams as small as ours to massive creative workhouses and whilst we have a lot of respect for what has come before, we’re setting out to do something new and innovative.
What makes us different?
We build web experiences, both websites and highly interactive applications using an almost entirely no-code workflow. This includes using tools such as Bubble, Webflow and Figma to create visually stunning and beautifully responsive products using a meticulously crafted and dialled indesign process that allows for client feedback and complete transparency at every step. If you haven’t heard of any of those tools before, we’ll have plenty of content coming up on what exactly these tools do and why we put so much faith in them, so don’t worry. We use our expertise with these tools to ensure that you don’t need to spend time getting bogged down in the design process. We’ve already done the leg work, why should you have to?
Flexibility
We’re highly flexible and will go out of our way to accommodate your needs on a project-by-project basis. Do you have an idea in mind for a marketing site but don’t have the in-house design chops to get it on the page? We’ll build a prototype that follows your specifications so you can see exactly what your vision looks like. Already have an in-house development team to build the site? No problem, we can send over our entire design blueprint which is documented in incredible detail to help your team create the beautiful website that your business deserves.

Ethics and sustainability are at the heart of our core tenets at Atom Design. We only accept work from organisations that we, through thorough research and analysis deem to be ethically minded and reputable. We only accept projects that we know we are right for and if we have any concerns about our ability to deliver a truly exceptional piece of work at the end, we simply wont take on the work. We want every client we work with to end their journey feeling nothing but genuine happiness and relief that they decided to entrust us with their vision and their time. These may sound like lofty ambitions; we wouldn’t have started Atom Design if we weren’t confident in our ability to meet the goals and deliver outstanding content in a fair and ethical manner.
